Amber suspension warning light |

Hello guys,
So I have a problem with the amber suspension warning light coming on after 5-10mins of driving, whether the vehicle is being driven from cold or when it’s at running temp.
It is accompanied by a message which says something like ‘Suspension fault. Normal height only’ and I can’t then raise or lower the vehicle.
If I turn the vehicle off and then restart, it clears. I can raise and lower but after driving again for 5-10mins, it repeats.
A local indie LR garage who is excellent ran a comprehensive diagnostics on the vehicle and said it’s the suspension pump/compressor so it was changed.
However, the same fault is still there.
He said he thinks the new pump is faulty which he says has happened before and so it’s back in with them today. He also said it could be wiring as I have read on here. Basically a wire getting chaffed over the chassis which he is also checking today.
My question is, anyone had the same issue and what was the fix? Mick

I'm having a similar issue although not nearly as frequently. Mine will often show a fault when I select access height which clears when I switch it off then start it again.
It's booked in with my friendly indy in a couple of weeks so I'll let you know what happens.

The new pump/compressor they fitted yesterday (FOC) didn’t solve the issue and the electrical connections and wires etc were fine.
He had the diagnostics on when he ran it up and it did everything it should, watched it get to the pressure levels required and it was all fine then for no apparent reason, it just suddenly dropped and the light came on again.
The boss of the place who is actually the main man and a diagnostics wizard is on holiday, back Tuesday so I’m going back then so he can see it as it happens.
The guy yesterday said it may be a valve or the filter blocked. The filter apparently is a lifetime thing but they have seen them blocked before.

Funnily enough, this happened to me for the 1st time in a long time yesterday. I'll double check the fault I had, but it was something like, slow to come up to pressure, even though it seems to raise and lower ok once the fault has cleared.
I do lower it to access height every time I park up as have a knackered knee at the moment, so wondering if I'm putting too much on the system as it's still all original parts on 140000+ miles.
One fault code I had on the IID was - C1A20-64 - Pressure increases too slow when filling reservoir - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure (AF)
I think the front left strut may be on it's way as the front is lifting slowly today and that one looks lower than the other side. Volunteer driver with 4x4 Response South East Wales

Earlier today the suspension wouldn't do anything even though the compressor would run, so I re-calibrated it with my IID. At 1st nothing would move and I had this message a couple of times -
C1131-92 - Air supply - Component failure - performance or incorrect operation (28)
I let the car go to sleep for a bit and everything settle down and tried again. I thought I had cracked it, as everything seemed to be working ok again, but then when I went for a drive, the amber light came back.
I checked the compressor, thinking it would be original, but it is AMK and has a 2013 label on it- the car is 2007. I'm wondering if the dryer or filter are faulty and the change in weather has contributed to the issue. Volunteer driver with 4x4 Response South East Wales

Quick update……
I have a leak in the air reservoir tank!
So the original compressor was faulty and it was explained to me that it had been overworked due to the leak in the reservoir.
New compressor (second one they fitted) is fine but amber light still coming on when compressor ‘shuts down’ when it senses the air is not being retained in the reservoir.
I think that’s what he said 🤔🤔🤔

That's sort of good news that you found the problem.
When I 1st had my Disco back in Feb, the tank was leaking (very badly corroded), and I fitted an excellent condition 2nd hand D4 tank from Ebay. I've bought some new dessicant and seals from 4x4 seals and plan on sorting that this weekend to see if it helps. I'm going to double check for leaks too and if the valve on the compressor is sticking. Volunteer driver with 4x4 Response South East Wales

Well a bit of good news with mine as the amber light isn't coming on for now.
I stripped the drier section down with the desiccant in and changed all the seals and desiccant. I did find moisture behind the exhaust valve and it was quite furred up with corrosion and sticking so I cleaned it thoroughly before fitting the new 'O' rings, this was probably my main issue. The pressure doesn't get as high as I expected in the gallery on the IID (at most 210PSI, but more often 140-160 PSI), but everything is working ok so far. The gallery pressure does drop to about 36 PSI when it's at rest as the exhaust valve gives a little purge when the compressor stops. Volunteer driver with 4x4 Response South East Wales

New suspension reservoir tank fitted.
System now maintains correct pressure and the amber warning light is gone! Mick
