AMK Compressor - Does it work without software update ?

Hello everyone,

I am a recent owner of a LR DISCO3. I bought the car used, with the original HITACHI compressor on it. The previous owner also gave me a AMK compressor, which was not fitted yet to the car. I initially bought the complete replacement filters and gaskets set for the HITACHI compressor, and I fully restored it. But ... I am still getting the yellow light on the dashboard from time to time. Even if I observed that after restoration, the air suspension raise faster than before, even instantly when I start the engine in the morning. And I do not get that message related to suspension raising slowly anymore.
I would like to replace the HITACHI compressor with the AMK one. And I would like to know if there is any risk for the air system or for the compressor itself, if I do not update the software right away, and I use it as it is. Thank you in advance for your answers and support.

Best regards

Yes, it will work.
You need this post: https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic84165.html and this is quoted from that post:

I can confirm that the compressor will still run on the old software, and even after an extended road test, there were no warning lights, and seemed to be no issues. The customer has been informed that there will be a software update in the near future, and will rebook when that is available. It may have been my imagination, but the car seemed to pick itself up from access height a lot quicker than the original type of compressor ever did, and seems to run a fair bit quieter, as it is mounted on rubber mounts, and is sprung on the bracket.

I have had some cars that did not like the update so had to leave the old software installed.

Your replies are much appreciated. I will document the compressor change process further on, and proceed with the replacement soon. Of course, I will post an update and feedback after everything is done and working.

Best regards, and Cheers.
