I had an AMK unit fitted by my indy replacing a Hitachi unit. I'm sure it needs a software update so is there anyone around London or SW (I'm in TW12) that can help me with this?

Can you please tell me why your Indy chose to change the make of the compressor ? I am about to have mine done, and want to avoid any update problems.

It's widely available and well regarded as far as I know. Not even sure you can buy a Hitachi replacement anymore!

Most diagnostic tools are VIN locked unless you buy the pro version - so most people can't help. Your options are:
1/ Contact a site sponsor on here
2/ Find a LR indie to do it
3/ Take it to a main dealer
4/ Buy an IID tool and DIY
5/ Someone with a Nanocom Evo could do it but I'm not sure there are many left on here 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

My Hitachi compressor failed, had an AMK fitted instead and my indy did the software update as a matter of course. I know this, because I watched him do it. Personally, I wouldn't want to trust my Disco to someone who doesn't realise that a software patch is needed in response to a change of component (or doesn't have the right equipment to do it).
Aside from that - the only difference I've noticed with the AMK compressor is an increase in noise over the Hitachi one. Mind you, it is running without a cover now ...

My last AMK has lasted less than 3 years. Did have the software update. Just bought a new one which is a Bearmach AMK via Steve at Advanced Factors. Being fitted Monday so hope it lasts a bit longer than he old one. Apparently it is a Dunlop brand ? But has a life time warranty. Will see how it gets on.
