AndrewS - 50,000 miles in a D3

Just past the 50,000 mile mark in my D3. I have found this vehicle to be a superb workhorse. It has taken me places that, when I get out and look back at the terrain it can easily cope with, I just stand there in total astonishment and wonder. I do not know of any other vehicle that can carry equipment and men to places a donkey would struggle then have the ability to comfortably cruse at speed down the motorway.

I have had a few problems; satellite navigation spoke to me every time the engine was turned off with the key in the ignition. Then there was the steering rattle, hot foot, condensation in lights and compressor failure. All of these problems have been fixed by my trusted dealer J V Like, Hay on Wye. They know and understand my requirements and have always provided me with a vehicle of similar proportions whilst my D3 was being repaired.

I got my car Nov 2004 and realised that it was an early example and may suffer from little quirks or the odd component failure. To me this was part of the attraction of owning one of the first vehicles off the line.

I feel like I have grown up with the car as it has aged and gone through puberty, nurtured it and now it’s a well behaved adult. In fact I feel like the adolescent now as every day I’m learning and understanding more how the electronics in this wonderful vehicle works.

All I can say is Land Rover Thumbs Up
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Glad to hear its going well. I am 10k behind you and feel the same. I have not had a compressor fail yet, but my park brake is still noisy. Having had the latest update on the heater, that has fixed the hot foot.

How is your seat? I just had a new base frame as the original had distorted and come loose. Vast improvement.

The car is great, I really can't imagine what I would replace it with, apart from another D3.

Forgot to mention the hand brake problem I had. My seat is fine at the moment.

Fact is for me in my job, there is no other car to replace the D3

Great to hear Andrew Thumbs Up

I've moved the topic into the My Discovery 3 section, it's a shining example of how good a vehicle the D3 is Very Happy

Shawn, ask your dealer to apply the fix documented in TSB LA412-001, that'll even the heating out so not just your feet roast

No this is when we both go out... have to race up the garden to be first in the seat sometimes Wink

Other car gets left behind - we always use the D3 !

Depends on what book she has with her this time Wink D3's too damn relaxed in all the bumpy bits.

She says she will, but I doubt it... we will need to work on her a bit !

Congratulations Andrew,

A big thank you to you, Simon and others. Without you I would have bottled it and missed out on the ownership of a truly fantastic car.

I and other 2006 MY owners owe you a huge debt of gratitude.
