United Kingdom 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Zermatt SilverDiscovery 3
Anniversary

Had my D3 exactly a year today so to treat her I took her for her Mot. Passed with advisories for rusting on blocks on front flexi hoses and slight noise and play in n/s rear wheel bearing. Can't grumble at that especially with 153,000 odd on the clock Thumbs Up

Every brand has its peculiarities.

The D4 I had seemed reliable but it had doctored mileage so I managed return it. Odometer showed 167k, actual was above 270k km. Shocked

The D3 I got after it has been extremely reliable. Started fine in -29 oC - a good metric, if any. Mostly wear and age related things which were to be expected. I did a lot of preventive maintenance, too, like changing of oils in various components once I got it, changed ARB bushes, etc.

Since then changed what has been necessary but next week it goes for replacement if all control arms mainly because some of the bushes are ancient, some completely shot and have to be changed and changing them all at the same time seemed like a smart thing to do. Converted to miles it’s got around 132k on it.

I guess a lot on a second hand D3/D4 depends on how the previous owner(s) have treated the vehicle and where they’ve been with it.

Knock on wood. Thumbs Up

Some are, some aren’t. Pays yer money & takes yer chance. My D3 was money pit big time, my D4 is completely the opposite. So far. All a bit of a lottery unless you stay within LR’s 3 yr warranty.

Probably helps that I have only done just over 2,000 miles since getting her. Thumbs Up
