Land Rover have obviously been fighting their/our corner. The always-excellent Martin Shankleman on Jeremy Vine's Radio 2 budget programme had a list of emissions which had been provided to him by LR and they have just had a discussion which mentioned the D3 as probably sneaking in at 249g. Then Vine veered off on the Chelsea-tractor 'unfriendly to cyclists' argument. Ho hum...
Ah... Unfortunately it's above 225g acording to the HM Treasury web site.

I note that the BBC have recently started refering to the term 'gas guzzlers' to include all larger cars as well as 4x4's - this is a marked improvement on the historical singling out for 4x4's as the culprits.
Isn't it strange though how there's just no pleasing the green tree huggers like Greenpeace - and how inaccurate they can be about the size of engines !!

i've had several uninformed to$$ers at work saying "Oooooh they've put another £210 car tax on 4x4's - what ya gonna do now? <insert smug grin>"
they looked distinctly un-chuffed when I explained it's all cars with emissions over 225g /km CO2 emissions and it's £210 total, not another £210 - especially as they ALL fit into the same band now tw@ts

so if I understand correctly it's going to cost us £195 but if you're awaiting your D3 and it's not going to be delivered/registered until tomorrow it's going to cost you another £20 per year?

Interestingly, the report states...
a new higher band of graduated VED (band G), set at £210 for petrol cars, will be introduced for the most polluting new cars (those above 225g of carbon dioxide emissions per kilometre);
...Petrol cars. So does that mean that this new band excludes diesel cars?Gavin.
