Another monster order

Got a bit carried away last night and finally got round to ordering a load of stuff to sort out a few persistent issues with our D3... Its not had any TLC this year due to lots of other things getting in the way (being an adult is a PITA!) Decided it was about time it had a few things sorted.

Various trim clips, bits of rubber and plastic to tidy up a few loose things and niggling issues
New front V8 discs and pads to replace the last set that appear warped already Sad
New slider pins and rubber lubricant to overhall the front & rear callipers to avoid the warping this time!
New air reservoir tank to replace a very corroded & knackered one
New hitachi compressor to replace a very tired, knackered one thanks to the rest of the EAS system showing its age
Front and rear valve blocks
Service filters and oil for its annual service
Inner & outer track rod ends as there are still issues with the steering with play

I've stil got a rear V8 upgrade in the garage ready to fit, plus new EPB shoes.

If I ever get all this done, I might eventually get round to fitting the new scuttle panel, Hella spotlights and running lights I also have sat in the garage!

Once this is all done, I still need to get the air-con fixed (been a Censored this week with 30+ temp's!) and to cap it all, the rear upper boot latch is shot (got a Ford replacement waiting to be fitted) and now the drivers door lock has given up the ghost. Something for another weekend I think...

On the plus side, my Audi A6 is due to go back in September, and whilst I will very definitely miss the BiTDi engine, we've decided I'm going to take the D3 for my daily driver and get SWMBO something different... That means I can start looking for an RAI and proper roofrack, as well as refit the light guards and swap back from sidesteps to rock & tree sliders. Every cloud and all that!
 Cheers,

Gareth

As yours is 07, have you changed the oil pump.

Funny story... http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic130266.html

Long story short, Flack did the oil pump for me and then a few months later the bottom end let go thanks to the known issue with bearings and cranks.

Thankfully, because Flack had done the service it helped my argument with LR and they sorted the engine at their expense.
 Cheers,

Gareth

So far, I've fitted the new discs & pads on the front, after giving the calipers a good going over, as well as the new rear V8 upgrade, again giving the calipers some TLC. The horrible vibration through the steering wheel has gone and the brakes are a massive improvement.

Yesterday afternoon I swapped the compressor, resevoir and central valve block so the Disco now goes up and down correctly. However I do still have one outstanding issue - it instantly throws a C1B21 - Compressor brush card temperature sensor circuit and my Nanocom shows the motor temperature at 199. Searching on here suggests it might be down to wiring. Interestingly, when I go into off-road mode the error disappears and then reappears when I lower the car.

The rear of the car raises and lowers in seconds now, however the front takes a while to move so I'm going to replace the valve blocks as soon as I can and work on tracing any issues with the wiring/earth points to get rid of the outstanding fault.

Then its just the play on the internal track rod and it'll be all good for its next MoT!
 Cheers,

Gareth

I'm sure the back should raise before the front, apparently so the headlights don't point skyward and dazzle other drivers.

That does make sense, however the front on mine definitely used to raise a lot quicker, even with the old knackered compressor and resevoir.
 Cheers,

Gareth
