Just bought one, Thanks for the heads up. Next on my list is the pedal box lock.

Don’t forget it though when you take it for service! They will be scratching their heads otherwise! Very Happy

Good thing is that it powers up their key coding device but just will not communicate with the vehicle!

Probably a daft question, is this method of theft using the OBD still applicable even if you have turned the keyless entry off?

I have a Diskloc which we use, I prefer the visual deterrent, to encourage them to walk on by rather than damage the car gaining entry, only then to be defeated by other methods.

That said, the Diskloc is a PITA, SWMBO refuses to remove it & often I'll take the other car rather than faff removing it.

Yes….unfortunately… they will break the glass to gain entry and from outside the car be able to lean in and access the obd socket…. Quite often this can be done without setting off the alarm…
Once they have plugged into the obd they can then teach the car a new key… hey presto and use that new key to drive off..
It is also known that they will deploy blockers, particularly in large supermarket car parks, retail parks etc. What these do is block the signal from your key when you park your car and start walking away and pressing the lock button. You go away thinking you have locked your car when in fact you haven’t because they have blocked the signal from your key.
Hence you leave it open ready for them to just open the door and program a key and away.

The cynic in me suggests that you may have paid somebody £16 so they know you have a fake OBD reader and the address where the vehicle may be.
If they want it they will take it all you can do is slow them down! Security doesnt deter them im afraid .

At least they wont be nicking mine for a while! Rolling with laughter maybe the engine issues part of the reason they are being nicked.

Dummy OBD port look like a good idea..

Should also wire 12V to pins of Old OBD port to absolutely nuke the thieves OBD unit 😁

(message to me “remember to tell the mechanic” 🤣🤣)
