Another tuning question..... |
|
The warranty on my much loved V8 (petrol) is soon to expire so I have decided that now is as good a time as any to get it chipped.. Does anyone here know of a reliable firm for this? I know that there are lots of firms offering remaps for the TDV6 but I can't seem to find an engine upgrade for the V8. Also does anyone know if the JE Engineering exhaust system is any good and if it gives any improvement in performance??
Thanks Formerly a Buckingham Blue V8 HSE, Side Steps, Privacy Glass, Lamp Guards, A-Frame Protection Bar with Driving Lamps and DVD

I think AndrewS has the JE Exhaust system & perhaps ChrisTyler? Those are on TDV6's though.
I'm sure the system will provide smoother power delivery & an increase in the flow (combined with an updated air filter)
Don't know of anyone chipping the V8 though (Aren't you gettting through enough fuel already... ) Bodsys Brake Bible

I did / have looked into it, although it was some time ago so I could be talking utter !"£$%cks - other than filters for improved airflow and exhaust systems (max 5% improvement if you're lucky) there's not much out there unless you want to start seriously playing with the engine (replacing big bits 'n' stuff) ..... and I aint going there whilst it's still under warranty.
Sorry
There's alway Nitrous... D3 HSE V8...

I'm not sure I want to do quite as much as supercharging it!! I was thinking of exhaust and ECU. I did manage to find on the web a firm in Scotland who offered a remap to take it up to 325 bhp, but now can't find the site!! Hi Patrick
Being a petrol V8 , and this site mostly the TDV6 , I would post a similar topic over on RRSport.co.uk
as you might find more petrol's on there , Larini exhaust are a main Sponsor on that Site so you
might even get a discount
here is a RRS V8 with an K&N induction to wet your appetite

Also an RRS with a FOX exhaust sustem (looks very much like the Larini)

Mossy,
I have found these people but I get the feeling that they may not be a profesional as some of the other big tuning firms. I can't see any testimonials from Landrover owners.

Can't seem to find anyone else who does more than an exhaust system, even Overfinch have nothing, rather a shame would have been fun to have an Overfinch Disco!!! Formerly a Buckingham Blue V8 HSE, Side Steps, Privacy Glass, Lamp Guards, A-Frame Protection Bar with Driving Lamps and DVD

Cheers Patrick,
Thing is, with Land Rover having now dropped the V8 petrol from the D3 options list and I'm sure I read that us V8 D3ers only made up 0.6% of UK sales, it's hardly a growing market.
Interesting link, but like you, I'd like to see a testimonial or two first.
Good find though I looked everywhere. D3 HSE V8...

Sounds good, please let me know if you do develop one. Stupid question but what sort of improvement would you expect?? Formerly a Buckingham Blue V8 HSE, Side Steps, Privacy Glass, Lamp Guards, A-Frame Protection Bar with Driving Lamps and DVD
