Anti Roll (Sway) Bar Bushes |
|
Hi all,
I changed the front and rear anti-roll bar bushes about 6 months ago, they were the upgraded, thicker type, rubber not poly. All was great at first but now I've got the dreaded clonk back, they didn't last a minute. The Disco is not used hard these days.
Anybody got any recommendations on a longer lasting anti-roll bar bush? Perhaps poly, although not all write-ups are very complimentary.
Cheers
Pete

Unless you use oem rubbers i think you may get rubbish. I use poly and in truth never notice the difference apart from them lasting longer.

There are some rubber spacers available which I believe were a quick fix from when they were new and returned to dealers with rattles. I've got new bushes and the spacers to go on mine, unsure if you use the spacers on the new bushes or to wait and see what happens but sounds like it might be worthwhile.
LR012410, cheap and may be worth a go.

Knew I'd read it somewhere just couldn't remember where!
Is there any reason not to fit them when fitting new bushes?

I bought the spacers with the last bushes I bought and couldn't understand why I couldn't fit them in, there just wasn't the room. Then I realised that the bushes I bought were the new, modified bushes with the thicker bottoms, however that still hasn't stopped them wearing out in a few months - unless it's something else, although the clunk from the front sounds very like the previous clunk.
Hopefully not the bottom wishbones/ball joints as I changed those a year ago.
I need to get it up on the lift and have a closer look

I wonder if you've now got space to fit the spacers?

That was going to be my comment, a slightly different clonk, but a clonk none the less. Did both of these this year and now its like I'm driving a new car. Disco 3: Lotus Elise S1: Ferguson T20: Audi A2
