The manual says on page 259:
Quote:
Never aim the water jet directly at the engine air intake, heater air intakes, body and sunroof seals, or at any components that might be easily damaged.
Do not use a power wash system in the engine bay area.
Do not use hot water
Do not use detergent soap products or washing up liquid.

Sounds like the transmission ECU is the problem. Bring it to a different dealer and say nothing about the washing.IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

Thanks for all the feedback nad I will be taking this up again on Monday morning with the dealer principal. I've bought 4 new Discovery s off them now and won't be so honest next time.
My mate is a car valeter and all the cars that come to him are steam cleaned and theres never been a problem.
Maybe my Disco is allergic to water. They have suggested I use the car and see if it dries out!, I told them this happened 2 weeks ago and have been to Ireland on Holiday for a week, I thought it would of dried by now.
DSL caused me a nice chuckle. Your picture above of Nodo$h and his blanked out number plate. Can someone explain how that stayed clean coming through that when the rest of the car got a new paint job?
Here's the preceding photo....
Looks like the number plate is self cleaning!I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
Just washed my engine with a hose ( all covers fiited) now it is total stuffed. Also I stuffed up by telling them I washed the engine. So it looks like it is going to costing me $700.00 plus.ATACAMA SAND SE ,V6 PETROL, AUTO ,WINDOW TINT ,SIDE STEPS, SPORTS ROOF RACKS, ARB BULLBAR, KAYMAR REAR BUMPER TWIN TYRE, HID SPOTLIGHTS, TX3540 RADIO, ICOM 400PRO, GPS, DUAL BATTERY SYSTEM, MITCHELL BROS TOW HITCH.

Unless you used a power wash to clean the engine bay they should not be able to refuse the warranty claim. I would fight them on this one. A normal hose should not cause problems for an off road vehicle with a recommended wading depth of 500mmm.
I bet this is your problem:
