Anyone able to reset my BMS please? |
|
Cold last night has killed my battery. It looks like the original one so not too bad. I have to jump start it via my split charge but on switch off I get the low battery warning straight away even after a decent run. C-Tek charging via tow socket isn't helping.
Anyway I've bought a new one from Halfords and remembered that the D4 needs a BMS reset with a new battery. I'm going to install the new battery now anyway... Is there anyone nearby with the means of resetting my BMS please? D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

I was led to believe not through searching here, but a lot of threads are dead ends or point to getting an IID tool.. Happy to be corrected! D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Did Halfords not offer to do this for you - at a cost obviously.
Edit: I'm needing a new battery and was looking at the Halfords AGM with 4 years warranty - I don't really want to be shipping a battery back to the likes of Tayna for a warranty claim. MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

They didn't actually, but I would have assumed (maybe incorrectly!) That they would have lacked the tools to do this?
Well the car starts and runs perfectly, only had a couple of shortish runs so not seen the charge voltage drop below 14v yet. D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

What type of battery was the one you took off?- if you have fitted the same type, not necessarily same brand it will not need any changes, if you have replaced a wet cell battery with a AGM type it will need setting to this type as a wet cell charges at a higher voltage than a AGM and long term it will shorten it's life.
I don't remember the exact voltages, 14v sounds about right on first start up, but anything higher can shorten the life of an AGM, wet cell can charge at nearer 15v for the first few minutes. The D4 charges higher for the first few minutes in cold weather than it does in warm weather. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Yes it's still a wet cell not AGM. I did consider the AGM and know that they are arguably better, but thought if the original wet cell battery has done fine for 7 years then why change. So hopefully just leave it be then?
My 2nd battery is an odyssey which I think is AGM actually. It's been great for jump starting the car via the button on the T-Max! D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten
