What a complete numpty Makes the X5 guy look positive.
Why do 4x4's bring out the stupid child in otherwise sane people. Who in their right mind would take their £40k motor to show off at the sea-side? I've seen too many pictures of motors submerged by the sea because people thought they were invincible and then got stuck. Insurance companies wouldn't want to know if things went wrong.

There was a guy my dad knew that bought a brand new range rover years ago and he let his daughter take it to the beach on the first weekend of owning it. She then proceeded to get it stuck and the thing stayed there until the tide went back out, the father then got his employees (of an electronics company) to work on Sunday to completely dismantle the car and dry it out, once dry they put it back together. The guy then went back to his dealers and swapped it for a manual as he said he couldn’t get on with an Auto. They did so and although it cost him a few quid he had a new car, needless to say his daughter wasn’t allowed to drive it again.
I just feel sorry for the person who bought his sea car! I'm Powered by........Diesel

This is what the driver said :
Quote:Re: A few videos to watch
The second one at Brook End (Nr Sherston)was closer to 4 1/2 feet and had me worried as traction became scarce half-way across as my Disco was starting to think about floating!!
My O/S headlight drank a fair bit of water, which blew both bulbs and the fuse and resulted in driving home with one N/S lights only looking at the floor (adjuster drops down too!) and no dash lights!
I would say a Disco 3 is too valuable an item to take for a swim in 4 1/2 feet of water
I think I'll leave it until the summer Duncan

I agree I looked to go through a ford at Hurst near Reading, normally fine but today the road was flooded for about 800m - I guess it was about 2m deep a the ford itself. Just had to have a little paddle instead

2 to 3 feet is fine. I went through 3 feet of muddy water on the Ridgeway near Marlborough last week. The bow wave was up near the top of the bonnet but the D3 ploughed through no problem. Duncan

Thats about what I used to have to do to when retrieving my mates RIB full of dive kit off the beach in Tenby, when it's bogged down in the soft sand.....it's no sweat, just a good jetwash afterwards, never harmed the D2 - honest 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.

Technique plays a large part when wading, keeping the bow wave pushed ahead is crucial. I waded my D3 through a large and quite deep 2/3 foot deep lake at the off-road day in Tong last month, once clear of the water I stopped and looked at the 'tide mark' and although it came over the bonnet in places, it was never close to the air-intake vent. Had I stopped at any point (stuck etc) I would have been in trouble. If you want to play in the deep stuff then a snorkel is a must!! 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto
