Evil or Very Mad I really wish someone at LR would run an advert campaign to counter this crap. Comparisons that show the mpg bettering most gas guzzling sports cars, promotion of the safety aspect of owning a LR etc etc.
Come on before it's too late.

But what it doesn't say in the article is that they regularly mention 'Landrovers' (unspecified vintage; my guess Defenders rather than series vehicles) doing the farm workhorse thing. Indeed the twit Kenton and his flash (unnamed) 4x4 with winch needed rescue by Tom last week in his Landrover.

It is still subtle demonisation of 'lifestyle' 4x4s, even though they are giving a bit of subliminal support for the working vehicle side.

They should ASAP. Interesting to compare mpg/CO2 figures in J.Clarksons Good/Bad Car Sunday Times supplement. The new Alfa 159 (V6) for example, more thirsty & only fractionally less CO2 than the TDV6 D3!
I personally wouldn't choose to drive a D3 or any big car in a town/city unless I needed to, but if others choose to I don't care. Provided that large cars are parked properly, I can't see a problem.
As I've said before, the new Saab estate, 6mm longer than a D3, urban mpg c.25!!!

Haven't listened for some time but David and Tony are working farmers and, as KL says, drive Land Rovers (often referred to) that are presumably Defenders. Brian definitely drove a Range Rover and, being Brian, it would be an HSE+++ spec! Mind you, didn't he drive it into a tree when he was having an affair with that Irish bint?

Went to a friend's farm in Shropshire yesterday. He has a Defender and a Disco II (posh car!). I can't quite see him driving up the mile-long non-surfaced track with a couple of ewes and a bale or two of hay in the back of a Toyota Smuggus. Sorry, Prius...

I do like the Forbes comment on the RRS - "Trading on the status symbol that is the brand's flagship, Land Rover has masked the truth about the Range Rover Sport: It's a waste of money compared with the LR3."

Sorry RRS guys - just a gloating D3 owner. Rolling Eyes

Of course not: they are a decent, honest, caring Government. I know this because I've got a pamphlet from them telling me so...

Graham Harvey defended The Archers' storyline integrity on 'Front Row' last night (Monday) on Radio 4 and said the story didn't come from DEFRA but from a farming friend of his who had problems with "off-roaders using his bridleways". Not particularly interesting but as this a good public-service website, here's the Listen Again Link:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks/ra...ontrow_mon

The piece is 21' into the programme.
