Just had the nod from the repairers, so the car's going in next Wednesday to be fixed.
The day after the "event" I received a phone call from the Company responsible for Asda's vehicles saying that they were accepting full responsibility etc, etc.
Euan, I'd have struggeled to "roll back" as I was facing downhill! Now I know us D3 lads are good, but I'm not sure we're quite that good yet.
Only problem now is that we notice every twonk driving Asda vans. Last night one thought it was safe to follow a car at less than a car's length well excess of 50 MPH (even though they shouldn't exceed 50 on a single carriageway Natrional speed limit road).

Nigel, glad your getting it fixed with none of the usual stalling tactics employed by less reputable insurance companies.....now if you could just get Asda to admit liability for Ginsters and Fray Bentos we might actaully make some progress.... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Be fair...have you seen some of the sell-by dates on Asda products....? "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Sell by dates? What are they?
As far as I'm concerned, if it's not green (unless it's supposed to be green) or moving on its own accord, it's still ok!
I was thinking of breaking my compensation bone and seeing what I could get out of Asda, but it would probably be the items you mention!
Oh, and the van last night was travelling back in the direction of the local Asda - must have been getting close to beer o'clock.

Oh the indignity!
I took the car in last Wednesday and was given a ..................... 58 plate VW Touareg!
............ and they bang on about German engineering. More squeaks and rattles than Mothercare and various bits not working, including the air conditioning - just a horrible pong!
I might even be glad to get back into the Discovery

slightly OT but have you checked your dates on packaging at home.....
I just amazed how many times we come across something that is 2-5yrs out-of-date
taste great though Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!

I was busy laughing my ass off at that when I realised that for some reason there must be a moment in everyones life when they see a Gingsters pasty or the like and think mmmm I could just go one of those.
Either that or the crisp aisle of the motorway service station was empty and desperation kicked in.
However back on topic: glad you're getting your car fixed without too much hassle.

Got the car back after repair. They seem to have done a good job with the panel repair, but have put the "DISCOVERY 3" and "TDV6 SE" badges in the wrong place, i.e. too near the edges of the tailgate. They've ordered a new set so it will be going in again for a day or two, hopefully next week.
Rather than using photographs and guesswork again, would one of you kind folk kindly measure the distance from the edge of the tailgate to where the edge of the "D" should be please? I expect that the "E" on the SE should be the same distance from the right hand side?

The top corner of the D is 90mil from the edge and 30mil up from the black trim on mine. The E on the other side is 80mil in, but thats on HSE.

Biskit,
Many thanks for that. I imagine the "E" will be in roughly the same place. Much appreciated!

Sorry Nigel didnt see that post.If you haven't done it yet,you are correct......the start of the "D" in Discovery is 7O mil from the left hand edge and the end of the "E" at the other end is 70 mil also....the whole thing sits on the flat plane just above the beveled edge "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Euan,
Thank you for that. Biskit kindly measured for me, but just to check, I was passing a stealer the other day who had an 08 plate SE on the forecourt. The measurements concured with yours, i.e. 70 mm in, and 22 mm up from the black trim (measured vertically rather than around the bend on the tailgate).
I'm still waiting to hear from the repairers, and suspect that I will have to pester them to get it done - such is my faith!
Thank you once again.
