Did a run from southampton to Luton on Saturday to see the in-laws. 2 kids, dog and all the clobber. Sat at 70 the entire way. Average mpg of 39.3 1995 Discovery 1 300TDI

Thought the average went on the last 100 miles? It did drop to 36 on the way back down although I was doing slightly more than 70
Brim to brim average was 33.8 mpg.
Put 98 quid in at 130.1p a litre and had done 560 miles on the tank. But then that includes a load of town driving. I reset it for the run up 1995 Discovery 1 300TDI

My theory is when your MPG. Starts to go up, your crankshaft or oilpump casing is about to go .....
My MPG is a reassuring 25.2 !

the above theory is the same on anything fitted with a TD5 - if the fuel economy goes up then the head gasket is about to let go 2013 Discovery 4 HSE Lux | 2001 Defender 90 TD5 | 2007 Prodrive RB320
