ATRs

Looking at getting a set of Pirelli ATRs for the D4, question is do I need to get a 5th from the perspective of, should I have a puncture, running with 3 x ATRs and the existing spare, an unused Pirelli Scorp? Obviously until I get it fixed. I've always tended to get the same all round, incl the spare but ended up never using it.

If the tyre is the same size I can't see any problem, thoughts oh tyre experts? Question Question

I’m no tyre expert but if it’s the same size and it’s only temp until you fix it IF something happened I would save yourself a few quid

Like you say same size and shouldnt be a problem, its only a short term thing.

On mine as the Coopers are directional tyres have fitted a Pirrelli Verde as a spare, so then not a problem if the wrong side goes flat Thumbs Up

I’m in the same position at the moment. Need to replace the original Goodyear Wranglers. Do I stick with Wranglers or change to Pirelli ATRs which I’ve fancied for a while? The full size spare is a Wrangler and if I change to ATRs I will keep the Wrangler as a spare. Need to decide pretty soon. Any suggestions? Wranglers or ATRs? I have had over 23k of smooth quiet miles from the Wranglers. Good grip and good for the odd bit of tracks. Better the devil I know is exerting some influence.

Ireland 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Commercial Manual Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

About 3 years ago I went from 235/17” to 255/55/19 Wintracs and left the 17” underneath as the spare, never used it. Fast forward to last September I got a great deal on ATRs and I bought 5 with the intention of buying a 19” wheel and putting the fifth tyre on as a spare. It’s still sitting on the floor of the garage and the old 17” is under the Discovery Embarassed
I will get a matching wheel and swap the five Tyres around.
Oh bye the way I paid EURO 136 a tyre for the ATRs Whistle

What’s your opinion of the ATR?

I only fitted the ATRs before Christmas even though I bought them in September so I’ve only done probably 3k KM but so far I can’t fault them. No road noise that I’ve noticed, they might be a slightly harder tyre than the Wintracs on a rough road. Even though I’m a farmer they haven’t set foot off tarmac yet so can’t comment on that but on this website everyone praises them.

Thanks for that. Need to make a decision soon. Certainly saw good reports in the Forum. I don’t need off road tyres and in the days of off-roading with previous LRs managed with the standard tyres.

You’ll double your smooth quiet miles with the ATRs Thumbs Up

Suuuuuuuuuuuuperb tyres. Thumbs Up But I might be biased. Laughing

Re being temp might be a week or so but could be a couple of thousand miles if legging it back from The Top and just chancing it. It's whether the car will threw a hissyfit at long distance but they are the same circumference.

Just clocked they are H rated as opposed to V, will give NFU a tinkle this morning to confirm try are happy with that. Thumbs Up

Right, executive decision made, 5 ordered. Boat pushed out, £660 delivered for 5 from Oponeo. Looking forward to the kitchen filling with the smell of fresh tyres, ATRs plus a couple of Conti winters for SWMBO's Jazz. Mr. Green Mr. Green

A vey wise decision. Should get an easy 50k miles out of them. But you know all of this. Thumbs Up
Interesting to see if they’re still LR branded on the sidewall.

Will see if they have that when they get here, also what manf date is. NFU happy as Larry with the downgrading of the speed rating from V to H. Thumbs Up
