Attempted break in, now door wont lock... |
|
Scumbag succeeded getting drivers door open at 3am last night whilst car was on drive. Alarm went off and he ran off, all captured on cctv but IR not good enough to identify culprit.
When I checked car the drivers door was open and internal lights on.
The left hand side of the drivers door handle has been prised out of the door, and the door will no longer lock.
Any suggestions to get lock working please? You can't educate pork...

Without seeing the damage I would suggest removing the interior door card to gain access to the the door handle assy. It might be possible to repair it, hopefully the worst outcome is a new handle assy. Someone on here might have knowledge of used spare.

I don'k know if there's a "How to" on here, but there's definitely one on You Tube. Just remember there's a screw behind the Land Rover emblem. From my memory its an easy job and should be off in 10 mins. Try this

Get a DiskLok. Apart from its effectiveness it acts as a visible deterrent. Hopefully when they see it they will not bother trying to gain entry and move on. Sorry to read about the scumbag’s attempt. 2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.

A Disklok wont stop a thief from breaking in to rifle the entire car of it's contents and it's for this very reason I never leave my IID Tool in the car. Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.

There's been a spate of petty theft from cars on our estate lately. They are simply removing anything they can get from cars, three were caught sitting drinking red bull from a Merc two weeks back, they had womens gloves, sunglasses, lose change, an i pad and four umbrellas ffs
They are known to police, so why are they still out?!
On cctv the guy who did ours took my wifes prescription sunglasses - good luck palming them off for your next hit of smack pal - the recipient will need eyes like Mr Magoo that was after trying to get into next doors Audi.
Scary story from down the road was a woman finding a bloke in her hallway who promptly picked up a yellow pages and asked if she'd like to buy it before scarpering...
God help them if me and my boys catch them before the police do..... You can't educate pork...

I'm lucky in that where I live I can leave the car and house unlocked at night, and don't have to worry about scumbags. Of course the downside is that its not easy to make a living here, which is one reason why there's no scumbags. Life's a See-Saw!
