Audio system completely silent - Solved (for now) |
|
The audio system is completely silent, only sound from it is the confirmation bip from the touch screen.
This is regardless if using telephone, navigation, radio of audio from conected phone/ipod.
I have checked the fuses and find no faults, IIDTool does not show up any fault codes (related to the audio system anyway).
Is here a global mute function in this system?
Any thoughts of where to look?
I am doing research on doing a DAB retrofit of and did pull the MOST network cable of the telephone module, and put it back in again yesterday (have verified that the plug is correctly installed). It was after this that I discovered that there was no sound. Don't know if it is related.
Did use IIDTool to read live values and the "Audio volume level" is stationary on 7 regardless of any manipulation of the volume knob.

Mine does this and I turn my phone off and then its fine, sounds mad but system must be linked to it and it must be live even though I haven't made a call.
I can then turn my phone on and all is good, it does this every 6 months or so.

You are onto something.
I am not able to change from radio to cd or portable audio.
Have tried leaving the phone connected, turned the phone of, turned it on, disconnecting, removing/disconnecting the cable from the sockets under the hand rest.
Does not change anything.
Is there a special procedure to reset the head unit?
Going out to disconnect the battery hopefully solving the problem.
Story continues

My audio went silent on & off occasionally , solved by a new alternator and battery, presumably caused by voltage fluctuations.

Disconnecting the battery for a few minutes solved it (for now)
New battery and alternator was installed monday a week ago due to my old alternator dying completely and the old battery was 6 years old and a little dodgy.
L319: Did you experience the problems long time before the alternator was replaced?

No, it happened within a couple of weeks. Diagnosed as the faulty alternator ( poor voltage control), which was replaced and still issues so I changed battery as well, also about 6 yrs old . No problems since.
