Auto Express article - "Diesel super saver shock"

One to file in the 'Bloomin Obvious' category...

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/60733/di...shock.html

Apparently it's a surprise that
Quote:
A Land Rover Discovery 2.7 TDV6 HSE costs £5,000 less than the 4.4 V8 new. After three years it's cheaper to the tune of £8,784. Williams said: "Because diesels are more economical and depreciate less, the cost of ownership is usually much lower than a petrol."

Gosh!

In the 2 years leading up to the launch of the D3, Auto Express did actually have some good spy photos and videos (including a great one of a D3 chasing a 911 around a track). But since the launch, I only ever go to their site if I want a laugh. They have eye-catching headlines and then you read the 'article', which is usually a 1 or 2 sentence re-wording of the title e.g. "Land Rover in baby SUV shock: Land Rover today admitted that they may, at some point, launch a smaller vehicle to slot under the current Freelander model." Great news, guys.

If you want spy shot info, you're better off looking at sites like carspyshots, as all the rumours are on there as well as actual sightings. AE did have a lot of D3 info, most of it was wrong. They photochop loads of piccis and make out they are uncamoflagued shots, when they are nothing of the sort. The decent websites cut through all this. I followed the D3 from when it was first being tested with an Explorer body - a very interesting experience, I've been following the Freelander in the same way and I'm sure that is going to be a big hit too.

What's the actual URL? www.carspyshots.com takes you to an irritating site with popups and links to sites trying to sell you cars...
