auto gearbox slipping out of gear

afternoon everyone, imnew here and would very much appreciate advice before i consolt the 4x4 centre tomorow.

my dico 3 auto has been starting to "slip" out of gear going aorund corners, more recently when stationary it has slipped out of drive altogether and i would have to put it into N then back to D to move froward, today however it is very very temperamental and i would have to slide it over to sport just to get D with no manual avalable either. i have got her home and seems fine whilst on the move but again once pulling off or reversing it just seems to slip out of D or R.

thankyou in advanced any help would be much appreciated.

If it was dropping out going around corners it would suggest a low fluid level. Beyond that any difficulty selecting D,R, or any other position would point to the selector lever pivot becoming seized. Its an easy check and fix if the pivot, but be aware low fluid level can cause damage!

Usually the selector lever pivot gets blamed for this

It's amazing going round corners causes it, but it does happen. Had it myself.

Had the same issue. Replaced the shifter cable and issue was resolved.

+1 for shifter Linkage. My box was playing up including oddness around roundabouts.

£20ish quick for the part and barley 30 mins under the car and it was all sorted.

This is the thread I was pointed at re how to.

https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/autobox-gea...31656.html

Its dead easy and cheap so worth trying this first. You can refurb the part but I decided on new as its not a lot of money and Id rather know for sure. Mine was bound up something terrible, was amazing how light the gear change is now, but I didn't notice how stiff it had become.

Good luck.

I replace my shifter linkage a few weeks ago as it was getting difficult to engage drive
reverse and neutral were fine just drive.
As said it takes longer to get the 'beautification panel off the underside that it does to swap the linkage.
I replaced all the parts listed in the above thread but found that I really only needed the lever and the bush. Less than £30 for everything delivered from Dan at Duckworths and delivered in jig time

Eml is usually egrs. They’ll try to replace the egrs but better to have them blanked out (yours will also need a software update. )

I’ll drop you a message. Thumbs Up
