Auto lights and rain

When set to auto, should the lights come on when it's raining?

They seem to take forever to come on, to the point now where I switch them on manually. I have the wipers set to auto too, so the car 'knows' it's raining as it's doing the wipers ok.

Just seems that it's very eager to put the lights on as soon as you go under a bridge, but rain, nah why would you want lights?!

Anyone else noticed the same?

Would it not depend on how dark it was, thought they worked on a light sensor ?

If it's a bright day but raining, why would you need lights on ? Confused

The light sensor can still be sensing enough light for them to not activate.

The delay is likely programmed in in case its a short burst, or you have gone through a big puddle or such to prevent them flicking on and off to help extend their life Smile

The latest driving gurus suggest a nice little saying "wipers on lights on". It is good driving practice in order for you to be seen rather than just to see.

Just thought you might like to know. Thumbs Up
