you also have to set the wipers to auto too

Set the command to auto (One step UP from rest...)
Throw some water on the windshield... (From outside, mind you... )
See the result...
If it moves, then you've got it... If not...

I remembered someone being surprise as he was simply spraying the windshield with some glass cleaner...
