Autoglass no longer attending?....

Need a new windscreen.

Insurer (Direct Line) uses Autoglass so I call them (their online site appears to have technical issues).

Have to bring it to us they say. What about the vans I see around I say? Your car (D4 HSE Lux) is too complicated for that. Have to bring it to us. What if it's not driveable I ask? You'll need to get your insurer to recover it to us they say.... Wow, things have changed since I last experienced this...

So, 37 miles later it is currently at a large sort of 'Autoglass facility' in Makro car park Reading along with a whole host of other cars.

Anyone else experienced this?

Will be taking it up with Direct Line at renewal if others tell me otherwise on here...

had mine replaced by autoglass earlier this year during the lockdown, but my insurer was admiral.

I too had seen vans about, but had to drive 25 miles into a not so good area of Nottingham to their fitting centre on a backwater industrial estate.

also be prepared for it not be a Pilkington or LR branded screen, it will probably be Fuyeo unless your insurer has a different policy to Admiral 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

I never used the mobile service apart from a couple of chip repairs, always booked an appointment at a depot a few miles away and insisted on an LR branded screen and asked to ensure A clips and seals replaced - that way, no worries about inclement weather affecting the seal cure. Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.
