Automatic rear view camera & multi media kit |
|
Just seen this advertised on e-bay seems to answer lots of "How do I" questions. Does anyone on here know anything about this company / kit and if it would work? Better still has anyone bought this kit

It's a HSE. With a Harmon Kardon Play & Drive iPod controller.
If you have already posted the upgrade can you send me the link.
It's the camera I'm really interested in.

I have had a few of these units ..although not from him
Rear view camera does come on automatically ..you just need to send it a reverse signal ..from either the reversing light or the fuse in the glovebox .
The unit connects in between the sat nav unit under the seat. Some come with a remote , others with a hidden switch ..you can also connect into the can bus wiring on some so you can activate the source via the left hand hard switch under the nav screen G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I have had 3 from Korea ..all the same company ..every one had a fault ...reccomend NO ..they have stoped answering my emails
Last one from a guy on RRsport site who gets them from malasia ..$380 ..3 av inputs , 1 camera input , 2 rear screen outputs ..rf modulator built in ( and audio out wires) ..hidden source button and ability to use the can bus .
Worked great ..video here
Unfortuanty it has a fault .. supposed to be getting a replacement ..but the guy has also stopped replying to my emails .
Last unit is a GNET one ..i think there all made by the same people G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

thanks for the info.
Waiting for a reply back from simoniz. But in the meantime, have you (anyone else on the forum) installed a rear view camera by any other means?

Yes ..pics here http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=886
You have to activate it through the diagnostic screen ..a few keypresses ...not ideal as it dosent come on when you put it in reverse . G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

By the looks of the description, it seems the same as or at least very similar to the one I've got. Can't find my records at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it came from ebay, and cost about £200. The only thing I've done differently is to connect the reverse signal from the PDC led on the dash. That way I have a bit more control over when the camera is active.
There are two things I like about this device - the fact it uses the left button of the satnav screen to change sources (so no messing about with remote controls etc) and it has loads of inputs which means I can continue to expand the toys in my D3. It's just a shame it won't do VGA.

Ah my mod is an double din upgrade on a base D3 - has multiple options for inputs & outputs but input for a reversing camera switches on automatically when you engage reverse, can also be toggled manually. Not actually got as far as connecting a camera yet as only installed the unit last saturday and had a few issues which were sorted by the kind Mr Wiggs .
Away this weekend so week after next going for it again and will connect the other toys !!! - screen adjusts angle wise too.

I am using the box which is shown in the Video. Its working very well, but switching via the button below the Touch Screen is not really working. In my release you can select the AV sources but you can not go back to the navigation screen. In the current release they have fixed this bug. But there is another problem when using this button. When selecting the navigation screen, the system switches always to the screen where you can select between street and offroad navigation. Using this button causes only problems. Better to install the switching button which comes with the device and not connecting to CAN bus.
I put some images on http://www.flickr.com/photos/klausnahr/col...759879789/ More will coming soon. I just finished installation this week.
If someone is interested, i can get boxes direct from the manufacturer in Korea: www.qdis.co.kr

Kastone, what kind of money are they asking for direct purchase? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
