Aux input on S model

Hi there,

I have a 2006 S model D3 and since I wanted to connect my phone via aux input, I bought a second hand aux panel for the middle console, since in my car there was only a blank. I took that out with my son and we found three cables there. One for the 12v cigarette lighter and two green plugs which are identical but didn't fit the aux module. After a bit of a search I concluded that they must be for heated rear seats (which I don't have) and therefore are useless for the aux. Does that mean that my car simply doesn't have the plug for the aux in the loom or has anyone here spotted it maybe further down under the centre console? If there was a chance of finding it I'd be willing to dig a bit deeper Very Happy

Cheers,

Ralph

Cheers mate. There is a lot of info there. Thumbs Up

What I couldn't figure out however is this: the aux lead goes from the rear of the stereo to the passenger footwell into a plug. On the pictures though it looks as if it doesn't end there but continues through the lower plug and disappears. Since it doesn't arrive at the rear of the middle console it must terminate somewhere on the way. From the wiring diagram that I found on one thread it looks as if there is another plug, maybe somewhere under the shifter console. If that was the case one could maybe source the missing cable and extend it into the rear of cubby box.

I know....probably much easier to hook up in the passenger footwell. I'm probably thinking too much like a German again (as my Irish wife keeps telling me) Laughing

Still...would be interesting to know if anybody has ever solved that mystery.

Best regards and thanks again,

Ralph

Small red plug on the back of the head unit is the for aux input, it has 4 wires. Get some 3 core audio cable and a 3.5mm socket and place it where ever is convenient like near the 12v sockets either side of the ashtray or space where it would go.

The aux wiring goes from the head unit then through two pairs of connectors: the "A" pillar connector, and then the green pair in the centre console (remove the air suspension/high low switch pack to reveal it). Then it goes to the aux panel plug.

Wire colours: RED = LEFT, BLUE = RIGHT, Screen = GND

At the A pillar connectors: Pin 12 RED, Pin 10 BLUE, Pin 11 Screen
At the green console pair: Pin 13 RED, Pin 14 BLUE, Pin 15 Screen

It might be that on your model it stops at the green pair? Worth a look.

If you want to do it properly Wink ... I have male pins in stock for the side of the green pair where you might be missing the last bit of the aux loom.
