Does anyone know if it is possible to just have the equivalent of what I think used to be called auxiliary mode on the D4. My previous cars (all without keyless go) had an intermediate posiiton on the ignition switch that enabled the radio, 12V sockets etc. but didn't switch on the ignition circuits. Sometimes I just want to have the radio on without running all the rest of the electrics.

Thanks for the info.
In my case (with keyless go), almost everything comes live incuding heater fans, dash displays etc. You would think (hope) that given the car knows there is a smart key inside it could let you use the radio without making you press any other buttons or activating any other circuits.
Oh well - It was a nice thought

With out the engine running there is a timed cut out as well to prevent the battery draining ...I guess.

Neil,
When going off shore I usually get into Aberdeen (Dyce) early and sit having a sandwich with the engine off keys in and radio on, it times out about every 20 mins or so. Probably should try it with the keys out but seem to think it's the same..

Thanks for the responses - I am now officially
Of course! if you just press the radio button with the smart key in the car - it works just fine  no need to switch on the ignition etc.
So to answer my own question - Yes it just works - not sure about 12v sockets but the radio/CD etc is fine.

PS - I assume the system will switch off after a certain time to protect the battery too - but it is far too cold & miserable to try it out tonight
