Have a friend on another forum with a DS, about to reject it for this fault, along with multiple others...... he actually watched his car being built on the production line...... it was a friday...
Its spent more time on a big yellow taxi, or at the dealers than on his drive......
Other than its many and varied faults he says its a lovely car..... G4OC Secretary

I know someone on another forum who doesn't want the work carried and has been told they have to accept repair attempt or dealer will buy it back for £10k less than they paid - it's got 600 miles on clock
They were getting nowhere with dealer and LRCR until they took to facebook, twitter etc - now case has been reopened Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
This first appeared on MY15 DS but is still happening and I would go mad if they tried to do it to mine
That's a scary read How can any manufacturer write that down as an acceptable way of fixing a problem?!
Does anyone have a link to or a copy of TSB LTB00872 of 18 NOV 2015 so that I can scare myself silly with the less scary D4 fix?
The metallic rattle on mine started within a week of ownership with just over 100 miles on clock. The car seems to be fine on the outward journey in the morning but if she is sat in the sun then the rattle starts on the way home, even as cool as 13 degrees C. Some days the rattle lasts the whole journey home, others it stops after a short time. It is a very irritating noise and I do want to get it fixed but the thought of having my precious car taken apart to do so concerns me

Weirdly - after a 1300 mile round trip from Cornwall to Scotland the B pillar rattle/ticking has stopped as has the rubbing/squeaking steering wheel - despite a wide range of outside temperatures there and back.
Go figure.... I can't..... I'm not holding my breath though ...... if/when it comes back I'll report back - but meanwhile ....
Maybe thats the answer - a long trip to get rid of new car 'itus' (now done 8,300 odd miles).... 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

Mmm do you think the SO will agree to a long road trip? Given the mileage I do normally 8k is going to take a long time LOL

Hopefully they've sorted your problem can. Would be interested to hear if the garage tell you what action they took.

Will do. Info gleaned so far is that it is a 2 stage fix. Part 1 (don't know what this is yet) didn't work and they have carried out Part 2 which they have told me is welding "fix"

Picked it up yesterday afternoon and so far so good. However dealer customer service has been shocking. They didn't realise that I had a tracker in the car so I could see when nothing had been done for 7 days..
They showed me the main TB from LR which was several pages thick and seemed to describe more about moving seats etc out of the way. I didn't get to read it, just caught sight of the pictures.
Anyways this is the wording from the "invoice" - Removed upper trim panel, removed seatbelt adjuster bolts, drilled 7 spot welds, weld upper seatbelt bracket. Retest. All OK.
Also had the external temp sensor issue sorted and the aircon blowing cold issue sorted.
However since getting the car back I noticed in one the footwell's this broken plastic trim but I'm not sure where it is from..
More phone calls.

Find out what the broken trim was ?.... I wouldn't worry about it.... but listen out for the 'ticking' returning when it warms up agin in the spring/summer. Hopefully it won't - but as I've said - I had the same fix over a year ago and it came and went.... now not at all..... probably because its colder..... 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

Thanks for the update csn. Think I'm going to have to pluck up the courage and speak to the dealer. Not done many miles in mine yet and the rattle is intermittent but far too regular. But the thought of the fix makes me shudder.
