Back to it
I've just got my D3 back having been without it for 10 days whilst it had a few little jobs done.
The alternator had gone and at the same time it needed a 90k service. My puppy had helpfully chewed through the 3rd row seat belts and as it needed an MOT these had to be sorted too. The sunroof drains were also blocked (both sides) and needed rodding. It also needed the rear discs and pads replacing, and the front pads doing.
All OE parts useds, work done by an independent LR only specialist, anyone care to hazard a guess at the bill? Oh, and the alternator was a service exchange unit from Hereford LR.

Top tip re chewed seatbelts, take the 3rd row out for the MOT and then find replacement belts at your leisure from a breaker. If the seats aren't there, the belt bits are not classed as seat belts. I know from checking and experience, I have a load deck in the back and the belts are in place but nothing to click into (part of the seats in my spare room) and only connected at the top. Passed both MOTs like that and I take a printout with the bit re "if no seats are fitted it's not a seatbelt" bit but never needed it.

Either £1000 if you had to pay, or £0 if you have some sort of servicing/warranty arrangement

with the dreaded 20% it came to £950, which on the one hand I'd rather not have spent, but on the other I was delighted with!PRH

Yes, an interesting thought that most of the jobs could have been done by myself. However, its based on flawed assumptions about available time, interest and technical ability. Apart from that, absolutely spot on. PRH

I use Chris Wall, who is based at Orleton on the Bromyard road a few miles outside of Great Witley. He only does LR and looks after everything from Series 1, forward controls, my old 110 and the newer stuff. I'd definitely recommend him, but he always has too much work on, so if you need the car fixing urgently then its not always ideal. The quality of work is spot on, and he doesn't do anything that isn't necessary.PRH
