Bad weather bringing on faults?

Woke up this morning to a blizzard, so instead of the work picanto, i nicked the D4. Dug it out, started up, but the DPF light has come on. Would it be due to the conditions? Or is it a genuine thing i have to get sorted? Confused

I had anothet fault late last year due to a low battery. Was a bit sluggish, but drove to drop kids at school. Then it refused to start, so ran back to house to get the other car for a jump start. Im The mean time, the wife for some reason decides to keep cranking the car. Eventually it throws up a steering fault. Left it for a day after replacing the battery, and it sorted itself. Hopefully the DPF light will do the same! Laughing

Sorted itself when driving back home. Looks like it doesn't like the cold! Rolling Eyes

I have a cheap Chinese voltmeter in the fag lighter, which pretty much reads 15v for the first 15 minutes of any journey, then it slides down presumably as the alternator does less work to charge the battery. Today at -6 degrees it reads 14.2V; thought the battery was screwed. Back to normal 15V on the way home. Why would it be so low after a cold nights sleep?

I to have noticed with the cold the voltage has dropped off every now and then.

I had a few days ago something similar happen - there I was happily burbling along when suspension fault appeared on the display, the yellow light got lit up and the dreaded bong sound was played. Outside temperature was -22. Big Cry

When reading codes, besides one from suspension, there were a bunch of ventilation related ones from a few days before, that Pete K said were due to low battery and the D3 being overly sensitive. I tested the battery which was ok as was the voltage supplied when ignition was off/on.

Cleared codes, neither has come back since. It’s now only -18 outside Thumbs Up

Its all good as long as it sorts itself! 8)

Worked fine this morning. Even got to some road and could switch off snow mode. Hill descent was a life saver though. More to do with my stupidity in selecting the route though. Half way down a hill when i notice the barriers at the bottom have been crushed by cars that didn't make it. Then coincidentally, the travel broadcast on the radio specifically says avoid the hill I'm currently on! Laughing
