Battery dropping quick when car wakes up

How fast should a D4 battery drain when the car is woken up? I seem to be having a few battery issues. Voltmeter showing 12.4v on battery, then when I open the door and wake the car up it drops down .01v every few seconds, to the point where if I leave the boot open for 10-15 mins the central locking has a hissy fit when I get in then and sets the alarm off, starts fine, reads 14.4v on idle and rises to about 14.6-7 when revved so it’s charging. New battery in nov according to previous owner, I don’t think they’ve coded it in though, could this be an issue? It starts on the button and is used daily, just like to sort it so that if I ever sit with the radio on or a door open one day I’m not met with a click when I go to start it!
Thanks

Every D4 owner will be met with a click if they leave the radio playing and the door open for more than 10 minutes even less if it has been opened more than once, Discos are power hungary.

Bloody hell! Surely 10 mins with the boot open shouldn’t make that much difference though should it?? If that’s the case I better invest in a jump pack just in case, don’t recall having this issue with my D3, used to open the boot and sit on the tailgate all the time.

Wish I’d got a £pound for every D3/4 that has failed to start after the owner had left the radio on whist giving it a clean Laughing

You’ll be fine if you have doors open etc as most of the disco will go back to sleep but as said the radio is a no, no unfortunately Thumbs Up

Depends which November but if that is the case it should still be under warranty, talk to the previous owner.

It was November just gone and you can see it’s very new, I’ll see if I’ve still got his contact details. Any recommendations on a better battery though if no luck? Or just keep jump leads in there just in case lol

I wonder whether it's the right battery?

Could you please tell us?

Tanya & Halfords are both good sources for batteries.
