Battery light on!!!!!!!!!!!!

just wondering if any one can help with technical info?

Parks the disco up for a couple of hours with no problems, on restart the battery light was on and will not go out. Big Cry

I have checked the fault code wich says low votage from alternator, after checking the voltage at the battery there was no change with the engine running.

I have removed the alternator but the question i have is............... There is a connector going to the alternator from the car with three wires, i have checked the voltage from these with ignition on 1 is 12v 1 is 8v and another 7v. Is this correct ????? Confused

I understand the alternators are a fair few quid so want to check the output of this connector.

Chances are you need a new altenator. There seems to be a fair few going down at the moment.
