Battery swap, how to???
Done a search but didn't get anywhere, maybe cause I'm stuffed up with a cold so brain is only working at 25% capacity!
Picking up a new battery from the stealer for my car when SWMBO's goes to the stealer for service & MOT, how easy is it to swap them out?? Anything I need to do apart from unscrew the clamps & terminals?? Do I need to take the car for a decent run after fitting to just top up the battery (in case it's been sitting around for a few months)?? Any other questions I should be asking?
Took mine off over night to recharge it a few weeks ago and apart from the possibility of some of the systems resetting themselves, I must admit I didn't notice any, I don't think there are any probs.

I think you've just about covered it...
Remove key and leave it for x minutes (enough time for a brew) and then disconnect the battery -ve lead, secure it out of the way and then remove the +ve cable.
Remove the clamp (two bolts) and simply replace in reverse order.
I can't think of any real problem you could have
If you have a charger handy, then I guess it could be worth charging overnight before fitting or after changing it, but in all probabality, it will be fine without doing anything else.

I remember a while back having one changed (in a back street garage!) on a Honda prelude.
the guy did something with jump leads to keep car live whilst swapping over?
he said he didn't want to cock up my alarm & 4WS.
anyone do this?
sure he put jump lead to clamps from new battery then swapped leads over? XC90 T8 R Design Pro

SHARKYSHARKS - you're spot on....this is what I originally wrote, but I left an extra "+ve" in the text so edited my post to correct it and tidy it up....during the edit I must have got them mixed up

Sounds like a dose of manflu...can be very serious. I hope Mrs DSL is looking after you.
A good Malt Whisky is great for man flu but you have to keep taking it until all the symptoms are gone.... Regards, Trev.

SWMBO has abandoned me & hidden the TV remote!! To be fair she's visiting a neighbour who's dog has just gone through a major op to remove a tumour in the bladder. Said hound is one of our dogs' best friends so keeping fingers crossed! She's also been out chopping up the ice on the drive, maybe she can't stand the snoring!
Re whiskey, must be one of the few if my nationality that can't stand the stuff, possibly a nice Southern Comfort might do the trick, if we had any!!!

If you have a dual battery set up ( split system ), remove the neg off the auxiliary battery at the same time you remove the neg off the cranking battery, then remove the positive off the cranking battery.2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7
