So how do all of the poverty stricken, 75 year old +, Porsche owners feel about suddenly having to contribute to the costs of providing the BBC? Rolling Eyes

After all, someone has to pay to provide them with The Archers and You and Yours... Wink

Well in polls after they announced the decision, Joe Public must have had a change of heart. Maybe it pride after the D-Day events.

But we all know that a) polls are untrustworthy, and b) no one is allowed to change their mind even if additional information becomes available.

So, tough, the fee must be paid. It's the will of the people, after all. Rolling with laughter

Strangely enough, the Fatty lot don’t seem particularly interested in political stuff and I’ve not heard any of them threaten to go to jail over having to pay a TV licence either Rolling Eyes

When you say “you lot (old) Women’s Hour would be a better programme”, who are the “you lot” to which you refer?

Well it may be, but gives the appearance it isn’t. Certainly failed on the first sentence, unless we are going to argue about what’s in the public interest. Wouldn’t have thought making over 75’s pay for a licence is tbh and something a large majority of the public are against.

Er, in the vote they had, 52% were for scrapping the freebie. Whistle

I thought I read the figures were 48% to continue the concession, 15% to scrap it and 37% to 'reform' it and the BBC took 'reform' as a vote to scrap it = 37% +15% = 52%

Although they didn’t scrap it; they retained it for those in receipt of Pensions Credit.

The same musketeers that endlessly debate Brexit and are now outraged here; I'm sure you could easily get into 100 pages if not more Laughing At the moment you only have an interloper with a Porsche to get angry at, but I'm sure a bus with a slogan on will really drive you mad!.

Here's one from your favourite paper.

As for the bus adverts, I don't have a problem with them as they're aimed at everyone:

Not really, because that sounds closer to a reform than to scrapping Thumbs Up

@ Pelyma: I wasn’t aware that I had a favourite paper. Go on, enlighten me, what’s my favourite paper and what on earth has that random photo of a picture on a bus got to do with any of this?

Pedantatism at work. The general narrative, including on here amongst different views, is ‘scrapped’. I’ve not yet read anything that says scrapped, little asterisk, “except those on benefits”.

Politicising, or attempts to drag it into a parallel ‘brexit’ theme of a topic that didn’t need it in this thread generally IMO so I’m out if it is felt necessary to push it in that direction. Maybe mods could, er, mod?
