Belt are due for changing. There are 3 belts to change, correct?
- Timing Belt
- Pump Belt Rear
- Aux Drive belt
Is this something you can do yourself?
Which is the most important to change?
I already replaced the alternator once and took of this belt. Is this what you call timing belt in English? CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

Alternator belt = Aux drive belt. The most important belt is the timing belt at the front of the engine, if this snaps it will wreck the engine, if the (rear ) HP fuel pump drive belt snaps, the engine will stop immediately but shouldn't damage it. You need to be pretty competent / confident to do these two, (and have the timing belt tooling, as Al says), the aux belt is not difficult.

You can buy OR hire the special tools to change the cam belt, which should be changed at 105k miles
Have a look on fleabay for JAGUAR/ LAND ROVER TDV6 ENGINE TIMING TOOL Buy/Rent (#390081070003) to buy outright it's £59, rental for 7 days is around £12
The cam belt kit, which includes the tensioner is around the £65 mark, so it will cost you approx £80 to DIY 8)
I have a copy of the LR workshop instructions, I'll see if I can scan and post a link in the next day or two (or PM me)
Reading through the instructions, it doesn't look too bad for the avarage fairly competent home mechanic, just fiddly
The alternative is - cough up £900 to your LR dealer (that was what I was quoted) Never get mad - get even !!
06 D3 now gone to family member and still going strong at 265k
previous vehicles:
04 D2 TD5 - (clocked 189k from new)
52 X-Trail 2.2 SVE
various euro boxes !

front belt is not bad however for someone who newer did one some info:
there is no second chances you put it wrong will have bad idle or difficult starting or if u put it back very wrong
engine gone
there is no place for mistakes like forgeting to tighten a bolt etc
the tools wont do the job for u (unforunately) just help a litle
so if u never did one be VERY carefull
the h/pump belt the acces is disaster
however its not the leathal one so if one raly want a chalange start from the back one if u manage
procced to front one if u fail do not even think of touching the main one
(u can make mistake with the h/pump belt so treat it a training)
