Best Tyres for D 4
Hi, what are the best tyres for D4 255/50/20 109 Y (Summer Tyres)
I looked at these follows models
1) PIRELLI PZERO
2) PIRELLI SCORPION P ZERO
3) GOODYEAR F1 EAGLE
4) DUNLOP SPORTMAXX 4
5) CONTINENTAL ContiCrossContact UHP E

..or 6. Pirelli Scorpion ATR.
No extra noise, increase in consumption, loss of grip ( unless you are really driving it like a sports car) but does extend life to 40-50k milesJoined the BMWX5 45e group

I’d deffo have these again but they don’t come in 20” And ICBA changing wheels

IMO, it’s well worth the hassle to change to 19” or even 18” rims. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Can’t do 18” on a D4 unless compomotives or possibly one other type

I went the Compomotive route for the D4 and for a while had oe LR 18” rims on the D3. Such a nice ride, almost impossible to kerb and reassuring off road.
Smaller rims and deeper tyre sidewalls also look much better on a D3/4, IMO of course. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I use Pirelli scorpion verde all season on 20 inch wheels. Quite happy with them and a good alternative to changing to winter tyres if the weather doesn't get too bad.Gary

I remember Ken telling me that the Verdre All Seasons were better than you’d think they’d be off road and of course he was right.
I got everywhere I wanted to go off-road last winter in the FFRR shod with them in 255-55-20, the smallest size I can fit over the larger brakes on the SDV8.
I’ve no complaints with their on road performance, although the wear rate may be a bit of a shocker after having been used to getting 50k miles out of a set of ATR’s.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I should have pointed out that my use is almost entirely on road and they are perfect for that. Not tried them off road, so please with your comment LT. They are not great on wet grass (but then what is?).
Regarding the mileage. After the Pirelli scorpoion zeros that the car came with I'm informed that the the Verdes should last considerably longer.
