Big thank you
Huge thanks to everyone who contributes and comments on this forum, especially to the well known few. What a fantastic, inspiring resource.
With the help of this forum, I, a complete numpty, have managed to change the right front hub, with new calipers, new brake pads and completed the bleeding and testing. Left front begins tomorrow.
The strange whirring noise has now gone.
Many , many thanks.
Chris

To be replaced with different strange noise that you hadn’t noticed before I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Be glad of strange noises. When all is quiet is the time to worry.
Its the bongs that make me twitch The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

Do they still do the low temp bong? That’s the only free one.
It always amused me that the car would bong coz you were low on screenwash but when the car wanted to warn you that your engine was overheating no bong, just a little light on the dash. Saying that, when my engine died a grizzly death no bongs or lights, the only funny noise came from the engine.
