My biggest beef about LR and the D4
I like the car.
Very much.
I have a D3. (Well, my wife has the D3; my car is something else, and very good, too but for its gearbox.)
I think I want a D4.
My current (not LR) car is coming to the end of its lease.
And what's on the LR website to help me decide exactly what D4 to buy? Very little.
The best photos I have seen have been on DISCO3.CO.UK. Even most of LR's official photos are available on DISCO3.CO.UK but not on the LR website.
I want to see Rimini Red for real on the website, but I can't. Why? In fact, I can't even see it simulated, except on a D3, and then the quality beggars belief. My young boy's Fireman Sam cartoon is more impressive. Stop prattling about with CGI, LR. Put the Web boys back in their box, buy a decent digital camera and nip down to the factory gate to capture the real thing, in real daylight, and show us that.
I want to see the interior trim combinations in various colours, but I can't. Why?
I want to see the HSE 19" alloy wheel, but I cant. It's "undefined, undefined", says the LR website, unhelpfully. Why?
It's 2009, and I know that financial Armageddon has only just abated and might yet return, but it really isn't that hard to post some photos of a car on the web, and I wish LR would have a go. Drop the Flash stuff if you must, but at least publish a fair selection of colours and interiors for viewing, so that your customers can see better what you sell. (And "tosh" to anyone who suggests that colour reproduction on computer monitors is why the colours aren't shown on the Web.)

Couldn't agree more, it would take a day with a jack and set of each wheels and a vehicle transporter to get every colour/ interior and wheel combination photographed in a nice location.
Not thinking of trying an extended D4 testdrive in October are you NJF? LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Dear LR,
If you read MrH's comment, it would be my great honour to test drive a D4 in the Tunisian desert this October. Please deliver said car to me a couple of days before the trip. TFC, being a bit of a wiz on this type of kit, will see that it's properly looked after.

Take a look at the e-brochure. You can see the wheels and interior trim. The exterior colours are not up to the paper version, but the interior trim is a good match.
I agree fully that LR should make their site more user friendly.......and up to date.

I found the eBrochure when I knew where to look for it, which was two or three clicks away, around a corner, under a bushel, so to speak.
So, I agree with Winger, and with all previous comments.

And bring back the pdf brochures that I can download, not those poxy flash things that I can't.
Agree with the sentiments entirely but don't think it's Land Rover specific. Unless there's a showroom car with your exact spec at the dealer the so called colour samples, swatches, pictures etc you get to go on are usually and buying new requires an element of finger crossing as to how the final article will look.

Just click on the little diskette icon... you can download the document as a PDF or just the page you are viewing.
Only issue with the eBrochures... the accessories one is for the D3 :thud"
And the eBrochure link is one click away from the Home page, Discovery 4 page and every models page... its on the right hand side

When it comes to exterior colour, the only thing is to see a big slab of the colour in the flesh. Doesn't matter, really, what model it is on, but even the colour plates on display at the dealers give a poor display of how the colour will look for real.
It will be interesting to see how Ipenema Sand does. It is a nice colour - and really is more a sandy silver colour than anything else. Would also hide dirt and minor scratches well too.

Winger, when I was in the dealer at the weekend having the test drives of the FFRR and D4 they had a FFRR in Ipanema. I questioned the salesman about it as I thought it a bold move to use that colour in their marketing material, considering all other gold/sand colours have been unpopular.
This is by far the best version they have done and looks less 'old man' than previous iterations.
Here's a pic of the front end close up of that car. It came with the Jet/jet interior which was to die for too.
