Bike Rack

Apart from a Max Rack, can anybody recommend a rack that will easily fit onto a detachable swan neck ball?
Thanks
Adam

I have a Thule which is great, if you use the search for

+bike +rack +thule

There is plenty of info.

Think this thread:
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic34395.h...rack+thule

Is the biggy, the Thule I have was discontinued and replaced, there was an old group buy, and I contacted the guy who ran that, and got their contact to get good deal online, forget who I used, can look it up if you wanted. Altera is the other big favourite.

Thule mounted:

Its 3 bike, I have the 4th bike kit (for future expansion) but not fitted it, holds 4th bike over the lights/number plate.

Has anyone used a bike rack or similar as a base for a luggage box? Especially one that hinges for access to the tailgates?

Adam, I was thinking of buying the same rack. There doesn't seem to be much information out on the internet about the rack so do you mind if I ask you a couple of questions?

1. Does it fold up when you're not using it so that it doesn't extend out the back so much if empty?
2. Is it easy to fit and remove?
3. How secure is the fitting to the towbar. Is it fitted with a lock?

Thanks

Graham

1) Nope
2) Very easy
3) No - but easy enough to lock to tow hitch with bike lock

Does me - good quality for price, I'm only an infrequent user - quite heavy though Thumbs Up

The Thule is:

1) Yes
2) Easy (one time adjustment excluded)
3) Yes, locks to towbar with thule key (i.e. you can align with your roofbox/rack)

Of course, its 150% of the price as well...

Is that a 4 bike carrier?
Do like the one (saffier) I have but if anybody wants something that is light to move around, maybe not ideal - no way can missus lift it
Much better than Maxrack I had before

The site's search facility is your friend surely as there have been loads of queries about this and my vote goes to the Atera Strada.

Some questions raised subsequently....

1. Does it fold up when you're not using it so that it doesn't extend out the back so much if empty?
Nope

2. Is it easy to fit and remove?
Very very easy and it folds up when removed and slides in the boot in a very compact form.

3. How secure is the fitting to the towbar. Is it fitted with a lock?
Yes and the bikes lock to the rack with rubber straps which have metal in them to make them tougher. However, I understand the tow bar can be removed VERY easily if you know how (no I don't know how) so I always chain the while lot to the car.

Cheers

It can be, there is a kit that hold bike 4 over the rear lights... I have it but not fitted it yet as dont have a need to carry 4 bikes at the moment.
