If he's laid a boot into the car door, (regardless of fault beforehand) then he's caused criminal damage, and the insurance should follow that up.
It's also failing to stop after a collision...so hopefully he'll get doubly as screwed57 RRS TDV8

Tesco bodyshop or LR dealer for the door paint?
The police took all my details and appeared interested but who knows - there were CCTV cameras where it happened and I gave an exact location and time.
I've also set the insurance on him so at the very least he may get chased twice and the damage will get fixed at the cost of my excess.
I am also going to try the DVLA. Idiot bikers just can't do this - after all the rest of us don't go around kicking cars that use their horn.
I'll update if anything ever happens.
Does anyone have any thoughts regarding the work - door paint via a Tesco approved bodyshop or the local LR Dealership?

PS Yep it was the Aprilia Mana - the pic matches the bike the guy was riding.

Ade,
after you report a crime to the police (in this case criminal damage) you should be given a crime number and the collar number/name of the officer investigating your crime. From what you say there are some obvious lines of enquiry, you should be able to provide a limited description of the rider eg build, possibly guestimate at height but appreciating he/she would have had a helmet on and be sat on the bike. Plod can then pay a visit to the registered keeper assuming bike or plates were not reported stolen at the time of the incident. I would think there may be enough to arrest him on suspicioun of criminal damage depending on the outcome of the visit to the keeper (ie no plausible explanation for who else was riding the bike). He can then give his version of the story in interview. It seems a bit early in the story for the police to be dismissing it as one persons word against the other, it is the role of the CPS to assess the liklehood of a conviction in court (although some forces have an internal "gatekeeper" to weed out the no hoper jobs before involving CPS.
If I was you I would find out which officer is supposed to be investigating this and have a word with them or even their supervisor.

Plod doing anything about this? You gotta be kidding right? Sadly but the best advice I can give is take it on the chin and forget about it.

Hi
Looks like the police doing nothing view is the correct one. Still, I've not quite given up yet and have written to a named plod and asked what they actually did to investigate (they state no evidence But I suspect they didn't try and find any) and I have also asked if my insurer is actually trying to track the guilty party down.
The little sympathy I had for bikers has now gone......

Ask the named plod if cctv was checked in the area and if so which ones and what level the investigation reached, if it got to the station CPS solicitor that's it finished, but you can take civil action against the biker and use their investigation and civil court is a whole new animal

as has been said plod will investigate. However given no one was hurt the investigation will be limited I'm afraid. I doubt they will be trawling the streets looking for CCTV. Other half had a similar thing with old driver on M25. Ends up insurance job
However I'd ask them to see if that registration can be flagged on the ANPR system for pulling over since it appears the rider is aggressive/dangerous. Costs nothing and will inconvenience them, plus may well stop them doing it again after they've been tugged a few times.Tony

Sorry to hear about the issue. Many friends of mine are bikers and I know they would condemn this rider's act. I don't hate bikers just as I don't hate 4x4 drivers, and I hope that other road users are similarly tolerant.
I hope the police and your insurance company get it sorted for you.

Bit of a sweeping statement there Mapleleaf123. I ride a bike (for the last 30 years), drive a D3 and a Defender. When I ride, I'm a biker, and when I drive I'm a gas guzzling over polluter!
I got road raged by a chap in an X-trail towing a trailer and when I overtook him (without and impingement on his progress) he decided he didn't like it and I stopped in self protection as he kept pushing me onto the verge!
It's the individual, not the whole group/race etc.
Just the same as the few who trash green lanes are not representative of all 4x4 drivers contrary to perceptions.
Off my soap box now ...
