I know of one guy who was reported by Joe Public and ended up in court....his word against the other bloke.
I guess it all depends on the rozzer taking the complaint. Will he actually file it or not bother because it's too much hassle? Can he extort sexual favours from the offender to make the case disappear. British coppers..you gotta love them (only if your a working girl)

I spoke to a friend who is in the babylon - If you have reported it to the police they should have a 'crime number' from when you gave them the details. Assuming you have that, report it to your insurance company with all the offenders reg details, time, date, exact location, if there is cctv tell them this also as it is failing to stop at an incident &, subject to cctv proof, criminal damage so it's then in their interest to track the owner via insurance co. means & recover the cost of repairs from him.
Won't be an overnight job but if it's coming out of their pocket they will persue it he says.
