Binding Brakes, bleeding brakes.

Hi Folks, replaced rear disks pads and shoes yesterday hoping to solve binding on NS rear. Sadly still got the problem so just bought a new caliper, not bled brakes in years any tip for bleeding after I fit the new caliper. Also noticed thismorn that NS front started overheating when I took the bus out for a run, any thoughts, is it anything to do with the disks and pads I replaced yesterday?

Thanks

Kenny

Normal bleed procedure but it's more important not to let the fluid go empty in the bottle.

They have a nice capacity and not normally an issue when doing the rear.

When changing the calliper clamp the pipe and put cling film over the bottle cap to prevent fluid loss

Did you remove/clean and regrease the sliders before refitting the callipers?
Any resisitance when pushing the pistons back in?

To bleed get a willing assistant in the cab, pump pedal until stiff ish, crack nipple until fluid flow stops, tighten nipple, pump pedal until stiff again and so on, wont take many goes at all maybe a couple of eggcups full of fluid.

When you say sliders? The part with rubber sleeve. If so no I didn't regrease, as for the piston, yes was pretty tight had to use a G grab with a small piece of wood over the piston face, was pretty tough to get back in. Kenny

Greasing the sliders is essential any grease will do apart from copaslip, if the piston was tight all the way the calliper is goosed
