Isn't that a Split Turbo pipe or Intercooler pipe?
Give Nick @ Yoevil Landrover a call and he'll get the part pronto and at a good price. Bodsys Brake Bible

If you mean like this
Then it is an intercooler hose
A split intercooler hose will/can cause black smoke as you describe I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

I have now been waiting to collect my discovery for over 3 weeks, I went to look at it and said yes I'll have it. The sales chap had already told me there was a faulty EGR valve on it so I said I'd wait. He told me they are on back order from LR. So ok, i'll go with that. Meant to be picking up tomorrow 18th. Phone call today. Still showing an engine fault after fitting the EGR. Now he says it needs a turbo. What im getting at is the car run with lots of black smoke and didn't seem to have much punch when foot pressed down. as not owning one the only thing I had to compare was others that I've tested. bit worried as it seems to be one thing after another.
Are turbos becoming a problem?
does the same symtoms show with EGR turbo and split hose?
Sorry to bore you guys

Turbo failure is not unknown by any stretch, if you do a search for +turbo +failure you will find many threads. If it is going to go it might as well be sorted before you take delivery and the dealer tries and stiff you for the cost of repair I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

you are very right, glad they pointed it out before I have it because as you say the could have tried stiff me with the repair.
I cant seem to get my head round the search at all. Ive looked for turbo threads but it does not seem to work. That goes for anything though, can never find anything.
This sound really stupid but are they a twin turbo or single? I know they have two EGR valves so I wondered if they had two turbos.
Sorry to sound thick

The trick to site searches is to use a + before each word you want to search for (i.e. +turbo +failure), it took me a while to work it out, but once i did a whole new world of information appears very quickly I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Oh, nearly forgot, its single Turbo on the D3 TDV6, i think the D4 is getting twin turbos I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Ive just done that and yes, its a new world haha
Cheers for that.
Oh by the way, when I drove the disco I noticed it said 'engine system fault' now the car is an 05 and I believe the earlier cars didnt have a fault code for the EGR valves, is this right? would this point more towards the turbo as Im sure if that is faulty the car would show a error msg.

Could be EGR, but when I got the "i", mine was a Turbo failure...................... well its the variable vanes that fail, not the turbo itself, but still needs replacing altogether though.
