Bluetooth gps receiver, which is best.
I've got one, that works reasonably well. It was not too expensive (about £20 IIRC). It will fit in a shirt pocket, go on the dash top, and providing you remember to switch it on before the device you want to use with it, its reasonably reliable. It gets lost under trees however, and can be slow to catch up.
Ideally I want one that switches on with the car, and can be installed more permanently, so whenever I start up I can use either the laptopr pda for navigation.
Any recommendations, as they all seem to be similar to the one I have.
PS, I have no idea what make it is, it has no markings, it came from gpsworld.com. its a small grey thing with a blue light that flashes, and a green light when its on, that goes red when its charging.

I have a HOLOX BT-321 - its half the size of a mobile phone and works great with my laptop, iPAQ PDA (when it works) and even an E61 Nokia. £19 plus postage from ebay

I got an 'i blue 737'.
won many 'best GPS awards'.
It's a 32 channel receiver.
with 25hrs navigating use.
picks up satellites indoors
cost me only £23.
is just a fraction longer then the D3 Key body.
Now surplus to requirements as I've gps inbuilt in my new ipaq.
6 months old.
Anybody want to buy it?
still got box, chargers etc.
I have a Globalsat BT335 (chipset sirfstar III w 20 channes) which i use in conjunction with a nokia E61. Very good receiver, quick fix, hassless bluetooth, > 15 h battery life. Currently supersede by BT335, which adds a datalogger feature (60,000 points memory).
Pros: Tom Tom maps are more detailed than D3 satnav's.
Cons: receiver won't stay on indefinitely even if powered via cigarette lighter, it switches off if it doesn't get a BT signal for 10 minutes. U cannot leave it always on in car.

I use a parrot 3400 bluetooth car kit, this has the built in GPS which turns on and off automatically with the ignition, also the navigation voice from the pda/phone is put through the car speakers whilst muting the radio. I find this better than my standalone bluetooth GPS unit for in car use, as you never have to worry about doing anything with it, just start your GPS program and it connects automatically. The only downside is the cost.
