Bluetooth kit will not upload my phone contacts (SOLVED) |
|
I bought an exchange Bluetooth kit from wiggs some years ago and it worked fine with previous HTC phones, upload my contacts list no problems.
Now I have a new phone. OnePlus 3T.
Managed to delete directory in the car after several attempts to access it using voice command 🤡 put my new phone into discovery mode, entered the code 2121 and am now connected.
For some reason it (the Bluetooth kit) will not download my contacts list from my phone. What it does do is download my call list, the last numbers dialed🤔
Am I missing something or am going mad I've Pam's wiggs but not sure if he is still active on here.
Any pointers to resolve this would be appreciated 👍

It'll be a setting on the phone somewhere. Nothing's changed on the BT module, so double check and maybe make a new contact list group and see if it uploads that.
I assume it's an android type phone? Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi wiggs,
I'm going to try setting the phone to NFC tomorrow and see if the contacts data is transferred.
I'll keep you posted.
Cheers.

Ok, I've identified that by having Google synching with my phone, this creates a duplicate contact.
By deleting Gmail contacts which I don't use, removed a copy of a contact shown in the car.
There must be another program synching as some entries seen in the car have been removed from my phone and SIM card. More investigation is required so will try tonight while GBBO is on

have a look if your phone is supported by "MyPhoneExplorer" ... I used it when I had an android phone, lets you do stuff not obvious on the phone.

Right then. Finally worked this one out.
Stopped the sync with Google & Gmail on the phone & removed my contacts from Gmail as well as I do not use it.
Downloaded an App (Sim Card Manager Free) and removed the contacts from my Sim card.
All my contacts are now only stored on the phone & when it connects to the car, everything is fine and no duplicates are found.
It was a bit of trial & error but once I'd switched off the sync on the phone, the process was working.
I think that if you have the slightest difference between your stored contacts on the phone (spaces, full stops or international dial codes like +44....) and your Sim card & and sync'd accounts like Gmail, they will appear as duplicates as they are recognised as a different contact.
Obvious to me now
Well at least this may help others solve similar problems I've had
