I've just picked up a Discovery 3 HSE (57 plate).
I have already got the phone connected up (using a HTC Touch Cruise). I was wondering if someone could advise on how I can select different telephone numbers against a contact... work number, mobile number etc...?
At the moment I select a name on the list and it dials without allowing me to choose. If this a compatibility issue?
I was thinking of getting an iPhone 3G in the summer... will this experince the same problems?
Any feedback gratefully received.

I was wondering exactly the same thing. I really hope I don't have to go down the route of creating a single entry in the contacts directory for each of my contacts and their individual lines, although I suspect I will have to. I had an incoming call today from my wife on her mobile and it did not show who was calling.

the iPhone will take the first contact number in the persons contact list. I have a Dashmount and Brodit kit, so if I need a number that is one of teh alternatives, I can still use the phone directly to select the right one. Bodsys Brake Bible

The way I get round this problem currently, is to store the name/number as a voice tag. Clearly I can only store so many!

It sounds as though the Bluetooth kit is woefully inadequate. I’m beginning to wish I’d saved the £350 (or thereabouts) and installed the same Parrot 3200 that is in my wife’s car. That can access all the contacts in the directory and has voice activated dialling. The other issue I have with the Bluetooth kit is that it is very difficult to see the display. It is so low down and small that you have to take your eyes off the road.
The system in my X3 was way better. It had full directory and would display on the Sat Nav screen.

I'm hoping that the MY10 update has a more FFRR feel about the display, contacts and MP3 track information is displayed, which is way better than current D3 Bodsys Brake Bible

Another thing I've noticed is a contradiction between the handbook and reality. The handbook says the telephone number of name of the inbound calle ris displayed on the main dash info screen but it does not happen on mine. If the inbound caller ID matches a name in the phone book it displays this on the radio/bluetooth display but nowhere else. Neither does it display just the number if there is no match. I'm confused.

I've got an 07 XS and and a variety of phones including Blackberry and HTC 620; for each, I've found that if contact "wife" has home, mobile and work numbers in the phone, the listing shows "wife/h", "wife/m" and "wife/w" as three separate lines. Of course "Hartwell Landrover Oxford/w" will get trimmed down to "Hartwell Landrover Ox" or something like that, but generally it's not a problem
I'm pretty sure the iphone 3g did the same thing when I tried it in the D3, but I haven't had that long enough to swear to that - but both it and the HTC work as above in the 5 series. PM me if you need me to double check iphone in the D3!

Oops, tried the iPhone in teh D3 this morning: instead of "John Smith/M", "John Smith/W" etc, I get just "Smith John". Also it didn't look like all the contacts synced over - but I do have a LOT of contacts on there.
Time to investigate the Parrot kits me thinks!
