Hi Guys,

Please have a look at my gallery called bodywork scratches. I have a couple of deep scratches on the body. Looking for a way to make them invisible.

I use autoglym super resin polish does the job every time although on very deep scratches you would have to use machine polisher with it to get the top result

available on amazon or else around 20 quid

IMO, SRP is just full of fillers, which mask the problem, but don't correct it - a nice dose of Menzerna on a DAP (Porter Cable or similar) will sort you right out Thumbs Up
Peter, are you drunk? No, I'm just exhaused cos I've been up all night drinking...

If they are deep enough to get your finger nail into, the panels may require a rub down and re coat of laquer. This would be too deep to machine polish, even too deep to wet rub them out.

Which type of Menzerna would you use, or a mixture of a couple ??? (i.e. power gloss and then final finish)

Darren.

bodywork specification when buying a used disco 3

does anyone know what the policy is from landrover uk to dealers about how good the bodywork should be when they are selling used disco's? i am sick of hearing " well it is a used car" well it might be a used car but it is 25,000 of used car.

help here would be much appreciated.
 Many Thanks

There's no policy as such and usual dealer practice is to coat used cars with their dealer prep muck. This is like a heavy duty version of AG Super Resin Polich, i.e. FULL of fillers to hide the defects for 2 or 3 washes.

Then there's the issue of letting the dealer bodyshops put it right. All you get is a rush job (cos there's no profit in it) which looks loads worse then it does now. They don't mask up rubbers and plastics meaning every one of them gets a burn where the polisher inevitably hits it. Fine if you like burn marks in your plastics - the D3 has plenty of those.

Do yourself a favour and check out sites like www.detailingworld.co.uk - These blokes are clean freaks who take a massive pride in their motors. The is much good avice on there as well as product tests and links to product suppliers.

If you can't be bothered then look anyway and find a detailer near you who would do the job for a fee.
