LR Genuine spot lamps

Got a set of genuine spot lamps, in need of restoring, so I’ve taken them apart and the silicone seal has perished.. this holes the shroud and the glass together and make it water tight..
would a normal silicone be suitable or does anyone know what they used to seal them when new?
