I'll have a fettle then. Should there be any movement at all when locked properly or rock solid like the offside catch?
Obviously the main thing is that it's secure, but just wondered what outcome I should expect.

Another experience for reference. I found my passenger side latch would not engage at all. After preparing myself for a big job to adjust all the latches etc, I found that just giving it a very good clean with the compressor was all it needed. It now latches beautifully, hardly any effort required.

It should be pretty solid once down and locked.

If you study the casing on the lock mechanism, you will see where the D loop fouls it. Wink

Will this be why my bonnet flaps around when driving into a strong headwind? Normally it's fine unless it's breezy so is some flexing normal?

You need to file the lower edge of the D loop.

But don't file it all the way across - it's the wear in the middle that causes the problem.
