Bonnet not closing properly

Whenever I close the bonnet the catch on the RHS (as you are looking at the bonnet from the front) doesn't seem to catch properly. If I give a tug it lifts and you can tell that the catch has not caught it.

Is the catch adjustable or do I just need to fit a new one?

I have had a similar problem to this. Bonnet is shut properly on both sides and then some time later generally when going down the motorway i see the front nearside part of the bonnet flapping up and down slightly.
Have to stop on hard shoulder and open and close the bonnet.

This has now occured at least four times within last six months. Nothing appears to be wrong with the catch, but it does give you a bit of a Censored moment when it happens.

Blamed the wife the first couple of times but she doesnt lift the bonnet she doesnt even Know were the fuel cap is!!!!

Lift your bonnet and screw the rubber buffers further into the bonnet then try and close untill you get a good catch and no chance of pullling it open Thumbs Up

Yes the catch is adjustable, if you look at it from the front there are a couple of bolts, about 13mm I think. If you loosen then off slightly, nudge the catch up and then tighten them up again it should catch the striker properly as you shut the bonnet.

I think the action of the striker hitting the latch eventually causes the latch to move downward and no longer lock the striker in place.

I would take a picture, but my car is away at the minute!

Thumbs Up
